Why Linen

Linen is an exceptional material with endless benefits, considered to be one of the strongest of all natural fibers. It has even been found to get stronger (and softer!) with washes. During early Egyptian antiquity, it was used as currency due to its strength and durability. Linen is made from flax with an even lower environmental impact than cotton. The fabric naturally resists bacteria, fungi, and moths. It is ultra breathable and highly absorbent—gaining up to 20% of its dry weight in moisture while staying dry to the touch! It has been said that linen brings a number of health benefits, including speeding up the healing of wounds, reducing chronic disease and inflammation in the body and was even found to reduce the chances of developing bedsores for patients bedridden for long periods of time. The lengthy process of creating linen is why it is considered to be among the most luxurious natural fabrics and why it is commonly more expensive than other natural materials like cotton. Linen has reportedly been discovered to have one of the highest vibrational frequencies (on par with wool) at nearly 5,000 Hz units (in comparison, cotton is at 100 units)—providing the body with extraordinary energetic vitality.

With all of these known benefits of linen, is it any wonder that ancient Israel’s Levitical priesthood was instructed by God to wear this special fabric while performing their priestly duties? And yet there’s more: twice God instructed His people not to wear garments woven specifically with linen and wool (Leviticus 19:19 & Deuteronomy 22:11). A recent scientific discovery has proven that when wool and linen are woven together, they cancel out each other’s frequencies completely! God knew of this fact well before humans ever did!
